East 4x4 Tour

€47 per person
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Our most popular tour.

It's the tour that provides the most when it comes to history and culture of the island.

We see many attractions, each telling their own story.

One of those attractions is the village of Santana. This is where you will find the traditional '"A-Frame" houses you might have seen online or in guide books. We´ll see the real ones, not the "touristy" ones (which are actually souvenir shops)

We visit Pico Do Areiro which is the 3rd highest peak on the island 1811m above sea level. There are usually very dramatic views and we tend to spend a fair amount of time there.

We will see lots of agricultural terraces used by locals, we will meet locals and we will have lunch at possibly the best restuarant view on the island, Quinta do Furao Hotel.

After lunch we usually like to include some wine or rum tasting depending on the time we have and what the group is like.

Sometimes we include a walk or two, depending on the group, the weather, the season, etc.

This is all very personalised so it depends on many factors.

This is a fun and informative trip for all ages and a great "first tour" for everyone visiting our beautiful island!

"We were personally recommended by friends to book a trip with "Hit The Road Madeira" ( great name by the way! ) and we booked online before leaving the UK. We booked two trips one to the East of the Island and one to the West, on both occasions Hugo was our driver. We really enjoyed our trips. From the moment he picked us up from right outside the hotel it was clear that Hugo was going to be great fun and he immediately put us at our ease. We rapidly discovered that he has excellent local knowledge. We saw parts of the island we would never have had the chance to see on our own and the off road stuff ( "Crazy roads" Hugo calls them! ) was a real highlight. On both days we were taken to authentic, atmospheric, local coffee places and later to really good restaurants for excellent value lunches. Hugo also gave us many tips and ideas for future trips to Madeira. The jeep was comfortable, the scenery spectacular and the company very entertaining! "Hit the Road Madeira" certainly hit the spot"
